These vegan burgers will satisfy your hunger, but also leave you craving more! They are the perfect blend of spicy and sweet, with a little tangy avocado mash that makes each flavor stand out! In this recipe, you will use baked sweet potatoes to bring out the natural sweetness of the dish as well as Italian seasoned breadcrumbs to give the outside of your burger a nice crispy texture. The Italian herbs combine well with the chipotle chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper to create a complex flavor that won’t bore you.Continue Reading
This is a versatile little recipe – Italian Seasoned Breadcrumbs. You can use these in pretty much any recipe that calls for breadcrumbs. You can also choose between white or whole wheat breadcrumbs, or combine the two for a little whole wheat boost, while still maintaining a lightly colored breadcrumb. If you will be putting these on top of anything and allowing them to brown, I recommend white or mixed crumbs. Using 100% whole wheat breadcrumbs can cause your crumb topping to look over browned rather quickly. When you’re mixing the crumbs into a recipe, use whichever crumb combination you prefer! I use these crumbs in my mom’s creamed spinach, in the sweet potato burgers I’ll be posting later this week, and in so many more recipes.Continue Reading

A great way to experiment with your homemade creole seasoning is to whip up a batch of this 30 minute red beans and rice. It’s a fast way to make a classic New Orleans meal and can easily be made vegan, but still pack plenty of protein and flavor!Continue Reading
Recently, John and I were reflecting on our first cooking experiences. It’s amazing how difficult it can all seem when you’re first getting started. There are also plenty of moments when you feel you have it all under control, but then you make one bone-headed mistake and your dish turns to bleh…or in my case, dough. Seriously, the second time I ever made my mom’s creamed spinach, I put a cup of flour instead of a tablespoon. The result? Warm spinach dough. Let me just say…DEEEE-licious. No, not really. Ha. I wish I had a picture of that for you.Continue Reading
