Well, it is Valentine’s time again! I know so many people have mixed emotions about this holiday, but we should all look on the bright side – it is a perfect reason to have your cake and eat it, too!
Since John and I started dating in college, every December, I try to make the Christmas season even more magical than the last. A couple years ago, I bought a wooden advent calendar in the form of a penguin – we named him Albert. That Christmas, I hid a piece of paper with a hint on it behind each advent door and John got to retrieve this hint and a special little Christmas treat (once he figured out the clue) each day. I know he enjoyed it, but for me, that is the best Christmas we have had in quite some time. It was so much fun to do for someone else and I loved to watch him try to figure out my clues and then enjoy his treat. These cookies are melt-in-your mouth delicious! When I say this, what I really mean is that no one would EVER think these are healthy, and certainly wouldn’t believe that there are only 46 calories per cookie and they’re made with whole wheat. Every year I am completely paranoid at about this time. Germs. They are everywhere. With a couple weeks of school under our belts, the students start dropping like flies as the inaugural virus works its way through every family on campus. The kids go first…and then the adults.
