Ever realize that it is Saturday night and that you have a party to go to in an hour, still need to get ready, and you’re supposed to bring a snack/appetizer/edible something-or-other, but you didn’t plan ahead and you have no idea what to make? You’re strongly considering stopping by the grocery on the way to the party, but it’s a little out of the way and with holiday traffic, you’ll probably be like 30 minutes late. “Fashionably late,” you tell yourself, but you know you’re just making excuses. Now you’re wondering if you should even bother going at all. Of course, then you start thinking about your friends who are throwing the party and you know they’ll be disappointed if you don’t show up, so of course you have to rally.Continue Reading
How can I even begin to describe the deliciousness that is this dip?! Let’s see…to start: it tastes like cheese. Blue cheese. It is super healthy and made with only 3 ingredients. It also compliments pretty much everything. Skinny Buffalo Chicken Wings? Put some dip on them. Veggies? Put some dip on them. Salad? Put some (dip) dressing on it. Ice cream? Put some…ok. That may be taking things a little too far. But really, this is great stuff!Continue Reading
So when you read food blogs, you probably think, “Man, I bet they bring the most amazing, beautiful dishes to parties.” I can’t really speak for anyone other than myself, but that is soooo NOT true. At least not until this very moment. Hopefully this is not just me, but with everything else I’m doing in a week, when it rolls around to Friday afternoon and I should be pulling together my dish for the party that evening, I just feel tired. Instead of taking the time to make some cute little dish that everyone fawns over at the party (come on, you totally know what I’m talking about!), I feel a lot more like stopping by the grocery on my way to the actual event and picking up potato salad or chips and salsa or crackers and cheese or hummus. You know, anything that I don’t have to make when my brain feels Friday-frozen.Continue Reading
Family reunion time!!! Actually, it’s more than that…it’s ITALIAN family reunion time! Italian family reunions are really quite similar to many family reunions…plus animated hand gestures in every conversation and a ton of extra emotions! 😉 We try to all get together every other year to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa and have some fun with each other. The family is very spread out, so it has been a lot of fun to still know my cousins despite how far apart we are during most of the year. In honor of this week, I decided to post a few of my favorite Italian dishes throughout the week.Continue Reading
The Fourth of July is practically a week away – WHAT?! Crazy – this summer is just flying by! Where did June go, right?
I don’t know about you, but my favorite thing to do for the 4th is to visit with family and friends – eating good food and having fun! Since I grew up in Atlanta, I also prefer to start the day of with a 10K (Peachtree Road Race, anyone?), but that might just be me! 😉 That’s my tradition and I love it! …and I don’t have to be in Atlanta to follow it. I’ll run my 10K wherever I am – I mean, how else will I be hungry enough to eat some of everything at our afternoon/evening get-together?! There is logic to my tactic…plus, I really like to run!Continue Reading
